Amazon, the company’s largest e-business in the world has returned to break another record, and is the richest man in the world, founder and CEO of the company, Jeff Bezos, has revealed (finally) how many paying users or members Prime has all over the world.
In a letter sent to investors, Jeff Bezos clarified that they currently have more than 100 million members Prime all over the world, establishing a record for the company.
This is the first time that Bezos reveals in detail this number, because since the birth of Amazon Prime in 2005 (13 years ago) never had shared this information, and the closest thing to it was a phrase with which Jeff Bezos argued that the numbers of members Prime were in the tens of millions, leaving this number to our imagination.
Last year it was estimated that the number of members Prime reached 80 million, and it appears that the numbers were not so far-fetched. On the other hand, Jeff Bezos clarified that the 2017 has been the best year in the history of Amazon (the year in which he became the richest man in the world), then the company sent more than 5 billion packages to members Prime all over the world.
Amazon extended its membership to other countries of the globe in the past year, including Mexico, also was the year where there were more members Prime in the entire history of the program.
This is certainly a great news for Amazon, which slowly continues to grow its base of paying customers due to the benefits of Prime, which offers free shipping and fast, in addition to that it also includes benefits such as Prime Video and Twitch Prime.
So, the day of yesterday, the company announced its program of International Purchases, making it clear that the company wants to dominate the world of e-commerce.
