HP recalls laptops with flammable battery back

HP has been a recall started for certain laptop models between 2015 and 2017 are sold. Reason for this is that the battery’s fire risk are shown.

Although, according to HP only 0.1 percent of the battery was actually defective, the company will take the certain for the uncertain. Owners may use their laptop to send, so HP they free of charge can repair it.

Models affected are o.a. the ProBook 640/645/650/655 (G2 and G3), the Pavilion x360 and Envy m6. View the table below for an overview of all the laptops.

Safety precautions

In order to walk, or your HP laptop for servicing should be sent to, turn the Battery Validation Utility software. That installs when necessary also a bios update, after which the battery can no longer can be recharged.

From that moment on, your laptop is only to use when you take him to the mains power supply. In that way, hopes HP to prevent accidents and to get the then disabled battery as soon as possible to have it replaced.
