Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip to a smartwatch, as the successor of the now two-year-old Wear 2100 chipset. The main focus is on extending the battery life, the difficult point with lots of smart bells.
Smartwatch is often daily to the charger. Forget you a night to charge, and gets halfway through the next day, the watch is empty, you can’t even more time on reading. With the Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform is something invented.
Two processors are part of it. The central processor calculates all the heavy tasks, such as interaction with apps. In addition, there is an extra processor, which is there purely to keep the watch in idle longer to let go.
So a smartwatch with a batterijpercentage of only 20 percent is still a full week of full – as long as there are not too many smart functions of expected. It sounds mainly as a clever backup option when you for a while no charger at hand.
The chipset is purely intended for smartwatch that Wear OS of Google run. The first models will come later this year, among other well-known brands such as Fossil Group, Louis Vuitton and Montblanc.
