There is No way to deny it, the addiction to cell phone is a scourge of our times and the social networks have a large part of the blame. Well, until Facebook and Instagram have implemented changes to their apps to encourage their users to use less devices and therefore invest less hours in their platforms.
Also Google and Apple are developing software to ease several hours a week for the use of mobile devices to their users.
In Mexico, the thing is not easy either, according to the report, 2018 of the Association of Internet MX, 89% of the mexicans that connects to the Internet makes it to check their social networks, and spend hours interacting in them.
And how much time is appropriate to spend on social networks?
Considering this problem, several experts responded to the BBC the time is “appropriate” that a person should invest in their social networks daily and, truth be told, it may seem impossible to comply with the schedules that we face.
The magic number recommended by the experts in mental health is two hours or less, at least this is what sets an ambitious research published in 2015 by the National Library of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health of Usa (NIH, for its acronym in English). In accordance with one of its authors, dr. Hugues Sampasa-Kanyinga, any figure in excess of 120 minutes, increases the probability of having mental health problems.
According to this expert, the part of the staff in the department of epidemiology Department of Public Health, Ottawa, Canada,the relationship between the addiction to social networks and the mental health problems is not yet clear, but yes, there is evidence that the excess in the use of Social Media is linked to psychological disorders.
Sampasa-Kanyinga said this after analyzing the behavior and data provided by 753 students about their activity on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Among the scourges that found in the test subjects figure anxiety, depression and even suicidal thoughts.
